Title: Engineering Ops Tech (Night Shift)
Location: Chentlle,VA (No travel required)
Contract: 6 months (protentional for conversion)

Project/Business Objective:
Engineering Operations Technicians are responsible for maintaining the building's cooling and power systems. They ensure the facility remains operational while other teams manage racks, servers, software, and networking. AWS is expanding with plans to add 300 new data centers over the next five years.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Initial training Monday to Friday for approximately 2 months to become shift qualified.
- Shift starts at 5:30 AM/PM with a quick download of any alarms or concerns on the EPMS (Electrical Plant Monitoring System) and BMS (Building Mechanical Systems).
- Morning debriefs to review daily plans and vendor activities.
- Delegated tasks such as writing scopes of work, reviewing work platforms, and performing preventative maintenance on fans and electrical systems.
- Conduct building rounds, monitor conditions, and perform confidence runs on generators.
- Perform maintenance tasks, including tagging out faulty equipment and conducting repairs.
- Responsible for power and cooling systems within the building.
Top Skills Required:
- Level 3: Technical knowledge, first job in a data center, background in mechanical, electrical, or military fields. Ability to learn and follow instructions.
- Level 4: Experience in critical infrastructure (power plant, nuclear field, journeyman/electrician). Understanding of critical operations with the ability to adapt to AWS processes.
Training and Learning:
- Training modules are primarily computer-based, ranging from 5 minutes to a week in duration, ending with a quiz.
- Continuous learning with new modules as technology advances.
Preferred Backgrounds:
- Navy backgrounds (nukes, machinists, electricians).
- Military personnel with experience in hands-on roles.
- Building engineers from commercial settings.
- Electricians with experience in live wires and high voltage.
Key Equipment:
- Air handling units, exhaust fans, mini split units, HVAC, motors, and pumps.
